Top Five Spaces That Contribute to Church Growth:
Number Five: The Sanctuary - Individual seats are best. We like stackable chairs because they are inexpensive and can be easily reconfigured.
Number Four: The Nursery - Visitors are simply uncomfortable wrestling their young ones while experiencing a new church environment.
Number Three: The Foyer - Closing the "back door" is simple, new members need to make at least three strong connections in their first three months. Connections are made in the Foyer not the Sanctuary!
Number Two: The Women's Restroom - It is unclear to us (men) what they do in there, or why they tend to go in groups, but we believe that twice the space should be allotted for the women's restroom than the men's.
The Number One Space that Contributes to Church Growth: The parking lot -- Pastor Rick Warren said in his book The Purpose Driven Church that he surveyed everyone that had built a large church on the California coast and that the number one thing that they would have done differently was to add more parking. Pastor Warren went on to say that people like to take their cars to church with them.
